Ready-to-Eat Fruit and Nut Mix
Astronaut Fruits and Nuts, as well as other Astronaut Food items, have been aboard space missions since the early Mercury and Apollo Missions. They continue to be used on NASA missions today.
The mix of these fruits and nuts was chosen for the astronauts because of its nutritional value and fiber content. Scientifically calculated portions of the mix are treated with nitrogen and vaccum-packed in plastic pouches for shuttle mission astronaut.
