Built for the most intense moments of an Artemis mission, the Orion Crew Survival System (OCSS) suit is the bright‑orange lifeline astronauts wear inside Orion during launch, reentry, and any high‑risk phase between Earth and the Moon. This approximately 4" embroidered patch represents that suit — the upgraded, custom‑fit, tech‑packed evolution of NASA’s shuttle-era launch and entry gear.

The OCSS is engineered for survival: lighter, stronger helmets; fire‑resistant outer layers; redesigned zippers; improved thermal control; breathable liquid‑cooling garments; touchscreen‑ready gloves; and boots built for protection and agility. If Orion ever lost cabin pressure, astronauts could live inside the suit for up to six days on the journey home. Each suit carries its own survival kit — locator beacon, knife, strobe, mirror, whistle, and more — ready for ocean recovery after splashdown.
