Largest flight crew (seven) ever launched into orbit aboard a single spacecraft. First space flight to include two women. Astronaut Kathy Sullivan became the first American woman to walk in space. Garneau performed 10 experiments dealing with space technology, Earth and space science. Garneau also became the first Canadian to fly in space. Challenger landed October 12, at 12:26 PM EST, Kennedy Space Center, FL. Mission duration: eight days, five hours, 23 minutes. Traveled 4.3 million miles in 133 orbits.
