Zena Cardman has been selected by NASA to join the 2017 Astronaut Candidate Class. She will report for duty in August. 2017. The Virginia native completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Master of Science degree in Marine Sciences at The University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. Her research has focused on microorganisms in subsurface environments, ranging from caves to deep sea sediments.
